GARY NURSE - choreographer + movement director

Gary left school to pursue his love of dance in 1986, specifically the underground dance scene where he quickly became known as a revolutionary dancer that took the jazz dance fusion style to new heights.

Gary’s charismatic personality and passion for music and dance soon elevated him onto the stage with the then cutting edge jazz dance group IDJ. The pinnacle of these five years with IDJ was performaning at Nelson Mandela 70th birthday celebration at Wembley Stadium in 1988 in front of 85,000 people. It was groundbreaking in that IDJ were billed as artists in their own right; a rarity for dance groups even today. It was televised across the globe and boasted performers such as Stevie Wonder and Sting.

Gary saw beyond the realms of street dance and his chosen route was choreography. He has honed this talent for innovative dance pieces over the last decade and has taken the next step of directing a theatre production of immense proportion that involves an amalgamation of 5 genres of dance on stage at the same time. He is a visionary that wants to take the art of dance into a new dimension that will challenge old concepts. It is a vision that is all inclusive and will keep creativity alive.
